Nathan Smith is a seasoned leader with a strong background in operations, fund management, financial analysis, and strategic consulting across multiple industries.

He is a co-founder of Rockwater Capital, a boutique asset management firm. In addition to leading the firm, he serves on the boards of several portfolio companies, both public and private, spanning sectors such as real estate, technology, and finance.

Before establishing Rockwater Capital, Nathan served as Director and Chief Financial Officer at a large family office group. In this role, he was responsible for deploying strategic capital and supporting human resource needs across alternative investment funds, family offices, and their portfolio companies.

Previously, he was Managing Director of a private fiduciary firm, where he provided governance, trustee, and non-executive directorship services to alternative investment funds and companies managing over $5 billion in net assets. He also served as Senior Vice President at a privately held, full-service bank, overseeing the analysis and allocation of a $700 million credit portfolio.

Earlier in his career, Nathan worked as a Manager at PwC, where he advised alternative investment funds on strategic matters. He also served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force, specializing in IT deployment in forward-operating environments and in cybersecurity functions such as intrusion detection and penetration testing.

Nathan Smith is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey, holds the TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and earned an MBA in Finance and a BSBA in Accounting.
